A moment with Mama Smith... News!! And life!

Hello, dear friends and readers!

Whoa, but it has been awhile! I am glad to be writing to you again, and I hope you have all been enjoying your summer!

Now, to update you on life in the Smith household over the last several months...

First of all, as I'm sure many of you know, we are expecting our second Baby Smith! I am 19 weeks along, at the present moment, and we will find out next week if we are having a boy or a girl. Look for a post on the Facebook page within a few days with our announcement.

As a second order of business, so to speak, I would like to quickly sum up what life has been like for us in this current season.

Our sweet firstborn is now almost two years old (how in the world?!?) and definitely thriving! Although he recently underwent a minor surgical procedure, he is doing very well regarding all the typical toddler activities: running, shouting, playing, hugging, and learning a LOT about the world around him.

Every day, we continue to embrace the blessing of being his parents with joy, delight, and sometimes minor confusion. Discipline and general parenting tasks level up in difficulty, I find, once your child develops a strong will and a personality to match. But the Lord is more than up to the challenge, and our son continues to be the blessing we have always known him to be.

My husband and I have been learning and growing a lot together lately. I have focused more of my energy on refining our household management habits -- largely prompted and hugely supported by my hubby -- and although this area of domestic life often puzzles and frustrates me, I feel that I am making personal progress. I hope to post more on this topic in the near future, both as a method of reflection and a means of encouragement to all the mamas out there who struggle as I do.

As we anticipate the arrival of our second child, so much has changed! We know gobs more about parenting and childcare than we did with our son, but adding another child still feels a bit daunting. I continue in prayer for our little family as this new phase begins, and I am excited to share our adventures and the lessons we learn.

Well, I need to go make some muffins. Because, c'mon, MUFFINS!

Until next time,

Soli Deo Gloria.
