Welcome to Mama Smith Writes!
Hello, and welcome to my blog!
My name is Cassidy, and I am an expecting mama. My husband and I are excited to welcome a baby boy into our family in late November 2017.
My "mama status" has changed the way I view the world. If you are also a mom--whether expecting or otherwise--I'm sure you can probably relate.
From the moment I first realized that I would be having a child, something inside me shifted. Every thought, action, and conversation, every news item and moral question, suddenly became about my baby. How would these things affect him? How could my husband and I protect, encourage, and support him as he started his life in this world?
At first, these thoughts really made me panic! There are so many dark and scary things in this world, and I frantically wondered how we were supposed to help our son fight all this evil.
Well, luckily, this phase passed, for the most part. I still have "mama freakout moments," as I affectionately call them. But I remembered something very important that completely altered the anxious state of my heart.
My husband and I are Christians, and we believe that the Bible, the Word of God, is true and without errors or mistakes. Because we believe this, our faith in God rests on every word that He has given us through Scripture. We know by what He has said to us that God is all-powerful, that He is sovereign. He won't leave us, even when our family grows and changes, even when we face questions and circumstances that seem WAY beyond our control. We can trust God to help us, and I know I can trust God to guide my son both before and after he is born.
I should add a disclaimer here. I don't always trust God completely. After all, I am definitely human. There are still many days when I find myself worrying about the future instead of resting in the knowledge that my God will provide for my every need and for the needs of my family.
So, here I am, learning how to do this mama life and how to trust God with new adventures every day. Pregnancy has certainly been a new adventure already, but that is a story for another (several) posts...
I welcome you to join me and hopefully find some helpful resources, funny stories, and comfort for your heart as we dive into the beautiful and terrifying experience of mama life together.
Thank you for visiting my blog, and I would love to hear from you!
